We chose this location because of the natural beauty of the area, the stunning views from the house and proximity to motorways / airports. Montesa is a very traditional rural Valencian village on the edge of a designated natural open space, surrounded by orange groves and mountains, with easy access to inspiring walks.
Being here is a million miles away from the hurried pace of UK towns and cities. The air is fresh, the weather generally much better and the landscape is stunning -an ideal location for creativity and feeling good.
As much as we like the rural quiet life of this area, it is important that there are amenities within walking distance. There are four bars in the village including one with with music and an outside terrace for the warmer months. There are also three restaurants and a couple of shops and cash machines, so buying provisions locally is easy.
The village has its own train station and a return ticket to Valencia costs less than 10 Euros with the journey taking just under an hour. The historic town of Xativa with its shops, castle and night clubs is only a fifteen minute drive or a short train journey from here.
There is a swimming pool open in the village during July and August or if you don’t mind a fifteen minute car trip, a very beautiful natural spring pool in the next village. Montesa is also well known for its rock climbing and hiking.
If you'd like some time on the beach the Mediterranean resorts of Valencia or Gandia are within easy travelling distance. Gandia, our favourite, offers miles of golden sand for serious sunbathing. Also worth a visit is the ocean park in Valencia. This is the largest in Europe and a truly amazing experience.
